Dear Mr. President

19 07 2012

Dear Mr. President:

Regarding your remark made saying that successful people did not earn that success on their own that the government was the reason that businesses are successful, I take that offensively. Not for me, but for my parents. Both of them have built successful businesses without government help. If anything, their businesses have been on the decline in the recent years with more government  control (and the threat of even more) trying to creep into businesses, and if you cannot read reports, I will just go ahead and tell you that this is a very common occurrence right now across the country.

I disagree with your policies, and I find it utterly sickening that he would say that hard working Americans are not responsible for building their own successful businesses. When this country was founded, our government did not play a role in controlling businesses, and we developed into one of the strongest nations that history has ever seen. If we continue down this path, our country will fall to pieces and will no longer be this superpower we have grown up to know.

It is time to grow up and make bipartisan decisions that will help our country. Also, it’s time to quit blaming Bush and realize that some of your policies are not working. For the first two years of your term, you blamed Bush. Now, with a Republican controlled House, you blame them. I see a common theme right now, and it is blame. A great leader should not blame others for mistakes, but should stand up and admit them. This is a complete lack of leadership from our nation’s president.

Thanks

Florida vs The Feds

11 06 2012

I’m finally back!!!

Today has consisted of Gov. Rick Scott and the federal government announcing that they are suing each other over the “controversial” effort to purge the voter rolls of non-U.S. citizens.

This all started earlier today when  Scott announced that he will sue the Department of Homeland Security for not giving him access to their database to find out which people are not citizens, but on the voter rolls.

Scott said, “I have a job to do to defend the right of legitimate voters. We’ve been asking for the Department of Homeland Security’s database, SAVE, for months, and they haven’t given it to us. So this afternoon, we will be filing a lawsuit, the secretary of State of Florida, against the Department of Homeland Security to give us that database. We want to have fair, honest elections in our state and we have been put in a position that we have to sue the federal government to get this information.”

Soon after Scott’s announcement, the Department of Justice responded by saying that they are suing Florida to get them to stop the purge. The DOJ said that the purge violates the federal Voting Rights Act and the National Voter Registration Act.

Scott responded to this by saying that the federal government is breaking the law by denying Florida the access to its database.

I personally do not know enough about what Florida is doing or about the laws that they are supposedly breaking to fully make an opinion, but this will be very interesting to watch play out. I will be doing a lot more research on this, so look forward to follow-up post about this.

Feel free to comment with what you think about this issue, and here are my sources:

Obama Bio Claims He Was Born In Kenya

17 05 2012

While I have never been one to claim that Obama was not born  in Hawaii, and I actually, I have defended him on this and said that I had enough faith in our government to prevent someone who is not eligible to be president from becoming president, this bio clip from a promotional booklet produced in 1991 claims that Obama was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.

This raises one of two questions with Obama. The first, and most obvious, is, “Was Obama actually born in this country?” If the answer to this is yes, then that raises the question, “Did Obama lie about where he was born to try and get ahead in the system?”

I personally, believe that Obama was born in Hawaii because like I said, I trust my government enough to figure this stuff out before he was elected. He has released a copy of his birth certificate, which could easily be faked, but is highly doubted because of all of the scrutiny that it has received.

So, this brings up the second question. Did Obama and Elizabeth Warren do the same thing? We all have found out that Warren claimed to be a minority in order to get friends… So did Obama claim to be born in Africa to stand out among others? In my opinion, he did. Which means that he will lie to get what he wants, which is not something the President of the United States should never have done. It brings up ethical questions about his character.

I’m going to end my post here because I have not seen any comments from the White House on the issue, and I am anxious to see what they have to say about this.

Obama’s Anti-Muslim Campaign

7 05 2012

During President Obama’s reelection kick-off campaign in Virginia, police escorted a woman dressed ina black burka from the event. The woman apparently was wearing dark clothing and U.S. military pins and was carrying a book.

According to a police report, the woman cooperated with police; however, in the video she seems a little hesitant to go and you can hear her shouting. While news outlets are not saying what the reasons for her removal are, many people will assume that it is probably for terrorism reasons. I am not saying that this is the correct assumption to be made, but the fact is most people associate burkas with terrorism.

This is a huge blow to the Obama campaign that is coming when many Democrats are accusing Republicans of being racist, but now, the Republicans are able to accuse the Obama campaign of being racist. Will that happen? Probably not. Do I think it should happen? Absolutely not. It would be a horrible campaign ploy if Romney goes for that. I am sure at least one PAC will run an ad about this, and it will probably hurt Romney if they do.

The secret service said that they are investigating this incident, but I do not expect to ever hear an answer as to why this lady was removed from the event.

Like always, feel free to comment and here is my source:

Warren Vs. The Cherokee

2 05 2012

Anyone who has looked at political news in the past month knows about the Senate race in Massachusetts with incumbent Republican Scott Brown facing off against Democrat Harvard Law professor Elizabeth Warren. This past week, many have begun to question Warren’s claim that she is of Native American ancestry.

Warren listed herself as a Native American several years ago in order to make Harvard seem like its professors were more diverse. Genealogists have determined that Warren is only 1/32nd Cherokee, with her great great great grandmother being full Cherokee. While Warren says that she never used her status to advance her career, she did use it to deceive the public.

Personally, I do not list my self as Native American on official documents (occasionally, I might put biracial if that is an option, but never Native American), and I am over 1/8th Cherokee which is a lot more than Warren who has listed herself as Native American.

Originally Warren said that she was unaware of the press release sent by the university claiming that she was hired because of her race, but when it was discovered that she was listed as a minority professor for eight years in the American Association of Law Schools, her campaign said, “The simple fact is Elizabeth is proud of her heritage.”

To me this seems like Warren was trying to play the system to get ahead, which is what the Brown campaign is suggesting. While Senator Brown himself said that he is not accusing her of anything, he campaign manager has come out firing saying that she needs to “apologize for participating in this hypocritical sham.”

This race is currently in a dead heat, and stuff like this could possibly be enough to sway this election, so both candidates should watch out for small issues like this because they can come back to haunt them on election day.

Leon Panetta Has Spent $860,000 On Flights Home

20 04 2012

Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, has flown 27 times to his home in Monterery, Calif. since becoming Secretary in July. Each flight costs approximately $32,000, and he is only required to pay the cost of a commercial plane ticket.

According to department rules, he is required to fly on a military plane with communications equipment; however, he loses credibility in his argument because he is proposing Defense budget cuts and issuing orders that make soldiers that receive less than $20,000 a year to move their entire family across the country. The cost of Panetta’s trips is actually even more than the scandal-filled GSA weekend in Vegas, which is receiving an extraordinary about of media coverage.

This is yet another controversy in the Obama administration that never should have happened. It is time that we take back the Senate and the White House!

Obama Has A Quid Pro Quo System For Donors?!?

16 04 2012

Former Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy (D-RI) recently suggested Obama has a quid pro quo system when it comes to his campaign donors. Kennedy suggested that it was simply “how this business works,” and continued to say, “If you want to call it ‘quid pro quo, fine.”

Approximately 20% of donors who gave $30,000 or less visited the White House, while 75% of those who donated $100,000 visited the White House. According the the Times, Obama does not usually take donations from lobbyist, but, many of the people who donated to his campaign brought lobbyist guest along on their visits. The Times writers refer to this as the “Lobbyist Buddy System.”

I am not trying to say that what Obama is doing has not been done in the past because it has been done by nearly every other president. The reason this is even being brought up is because Obama campaigned on the fact that he would not be influenced by lobbyist. He wanted to try and fix the corruption that is in Washington, but the fact is that he is simply feeding into this this corruption.

A good resource to see all of the corruption in the Obama administration is Michelle Malkin’s book titled “Culture of Corruption.” It sheds light onto the corruption, like this, in the Obama administration.

Like usual, my sources are below, and please comment so I can tell what y’all think.
